Ali Bell

Ali advises clients on intellectual property (IP) and business matters, offering practical guidance grounded in her clients’ day-to-day realities and long-term goals. She works closely with clients to protect and strengthen their IP assets, including securing ownership rights, obtaining federal trademark and copyright registrations, and structuring licensing arrangements. She represents clients in enforcing their copyright and trademark rights, frequently resolving infringement matters and disputes efficiently outside of litigation.  She also counsels both copyright owners and platform operators on Digital Millennium Copyright Act compliance.

Ali’s practice is particularly well suited to the needs of IP-focused businesses, though she works with clients across a broad range of industries. She advises on the contracts that underpin day-to-day operations, including drafting and negotiating vendor agreements, development and services agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other key commercial contracts.

Ali is an active member of the legal and local arts communities. She has served on the executive committee of the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Section and on the board of directors of the Portland Area Theatre Alliance. She also teaches a law school course on IP contracts and frequently speaks on copyright and trademark topics.

Before her legal career, Ali was an opera singer and remains active in musical theater. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her family and tending her garden—often in competition with local wildlife.
